There’s another exciting new cruise ship getting closer to Florida!
MSC World Atlantic has officially touched the water for the first time, marking a major milestone on her journey toward becoming MSC Cruises’ next U.S. flagship.
The massive new World Class ship floated out at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, on September 26, 2026. Unlike simply flooding a construction dock, this milestone involved moving the newly built ship out of her construction dock and into the water, where the next stage of construction will take place.
And Florida cruisers have a particularly good reason to pay attention.
When MSC World Atlantic enters service in November 2027, she'll call Port Canaveral, Florida, home and begin sailing Caribbean vacations year-round.
Here’s everything we know so far about MSC World Atlantic, her float-out, when she'll begin sailing, where she'll go and what travelers can expect onboard.
MSC World Atlantic Is Officially in the Water
MSC Cruises celebrated the float-out of MSC World Atlantic on September 26 at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France.
During a float-out, a ship reaches an important transition in the construction process. The vessel leaves the construction dock and enters the water, allowing shipbuilders to move on to additional outfitting and finishing work.
That doesn't mean MSC World Atlantic is finished.
Following the float-out, the ship remains at Chantiers de l’Atlantique while crews continue working on her interiors, public spaces and final technical elements. She is scheduled to be officially delivered to MSC Cruises sometime in 2027.
But seeing her in the water for the first time means MSC World Atlantic has taken one very big step toward welcoming passengers.
What Is MSC World Atlantic?
MSC World Atlantic will be the fourth ship in MSC Cruises’ World Class series.
She follows:
MSC World Europa
MSC World America
MSC World Asia
MSC World Atlantic
When World Atlantic officially joins the fleet, she is expected to become the 25th ship in the MSC Cruises fleet and the fourth LNG-powered vessel in MSC's World Class.
The concept behind World Atlantic is especially interesting for U.S. travelers.
MSC describes the ship as bringing together European style and American comfort — fitting for a ship named after the ocean connecting the two continents. MSC says the onboard experience will combine cultures, flavors and styles from both sides of the Atlantic.
When Does MSC World Atlantic Start Sailing?
The date Florida cruisers should circle is:
November 13, 2027
MSC World Atlantic is scheduled to begin sailing from Port Canaveral on November 13, 2027.
And unlike a ship that visits Florida for only part of the year, MSC announced World Atlantic with year-round Port Canaveral itineraries available for booking.
That gives Central Florida another major new cruise ship option — and puts MSC's newest U.S. flagship within easy reach of travelers who want to combine a cruise with an Orlando-area vacation.
Where Will the First Cruise Go?
MSC World Atlantic's first scheduled Port Canaveral sailing is a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise departing November 13, 2027.
The itinerary includes:
Port Canaveral, Florida
Nassau, Bahamas
Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas
Cozumel, Mexico
Costa Maya, Mexico
before returning to Port Canaveral.
That means guests on the inaugural sailing will get both the experience of being among the first passengers aboard MSC World Atlantic and a visit to MSC Cruises' private island destination, Ocean Cay.
Eastern Caribbean Cruises Are Coming Too
MSC World Atlantic won't stick to only one Caribbean route.
The ship will operate alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral.
The currently announced Eastern Caribbean program includes destinations such as:
Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas
Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos
Nassau, Bahamas
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
Western Caribbean itineraries include:
Costa Maya, Mexico
Cozumel, Mexico
Nassau, Bahamas
Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas
One particularly noteworthy addition is Grand Turk. MSC says World Atlantic guests will have the opportunity to visit Grand Turk aboard a World Class ship.
What About the 14-Night Cruises?
For travelers who want a longer vacation, MSC is also promoting 14-night Eastern and Western Caribbean options aboard World Atlantic.
These longer cruises essentially give travelers the opportunity to experience more of the Caribbean and multiple itineraries during one extended vacation.
That could make World Atlantic especially appealing to travelers who don't want to fly internationally but still want a longer cruise vacation departing from Florida.
MSC's official float-out announcement confirms that the ship is planned for alternating seven- and 14-night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings beginning in November 2027.
Ocean Cay Will Be a Major Part of the Experience
If you've been wanting to visit Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, World Atlantic will give you plenty of opportunities.
Ocean Cay is MSC Cruises' private island destination in The Bahamas, and it appears throughout the ship's announced Caribbean program.
Rather than a traditional packed port filled with shops and traffic, Ocean Cay was developed around a more relaxed island experience with beaches, ocean activities and opportunities to simply enjoy the water and scenery.
MSC is also expanding its private-island experience. The cruise line says Sandy Cay is scheduled to open for the winter 2027–2028 season just across the water from Ocean Cay as an exclusive luxury island experience.
That makes World Atlantic's timing especially interesting because she'll arrive in Port Canaveral just as MSC continues expanding its Bahamas destination offerings.
What Will Be Onboard MSC World Atlantic?
MSC World Atlantic isn't simply going to be a big cruise ship.
It's being designed as a destination in itself.
MSC says the ship will feature seven distinct districts, with each district offering its own atmosphere, facilities and entertainment.
The concept allows different parts of the ship to have noticeably different personalities. Families may spend much of their day around activities and attractions, while adults looking for relaxation, dining or entertainment can find areas better suited to them.
MSC has also announced more than 40 bars and restaurants throughout the ship.
So you're going to need more than one week if your goal is to try everything!
Thrills and Family Fun
MSC World Atlantic is being built with families in mind.
Among the attractions announced for the ship is an Aquapark, complete with twisting waterslides and splash areas.
For travelers looking for something a little more adventurous, there will also be a High Trail Ropes Course, allowing guests to navigate elevated rope bridges and towers high above the ship.
Families will also have access to extensive children's programming, including one of MSC's larger dedicated kids' areas and two LEGO spaces, with activities designed for children and teens from infancy through age 17.
The Clubhouse
One of the new spaces coming aboard World Atlantic is The Clubhouse.
Think retro family entertainment with a modern cruise-ship twist.
The concept brings together activities including classic games, a LEGO Family Zone, bumper cars, basketball and roller skating in one energetic space designed for families to enjoy together.
It's another indication that World Atlantic isn't being designed solely around pools and traditional cruise entertainment. MSC is putting a significant emphasis on interactive experiences that families can enjoy together.
Viva La Musica
Music will also play a major role aboard World Atlantic.
MSC has announced Viva La Musica, a new entertainment venue planned for the ship.
It's part of MSC's effort to give World Atlantic her own identity rather than simply duplicating everything guests have already seen aboard other World Class ships.
More details about the ship's entertainment lineup are expected as construction progresses toward the 2027 launch.
Relaxation Isn't Being Forgotten
Not everyone wants bumper cars and ropes courses on vacation.
For guests who would rather spend their cruise relaxing, MSC Aurea Spa will feature one of the largest thermal areas in MSC Cruises' fleet.
The spa experience is expected to include saunas, steam rooms and snow rooms, along with face and body treatments.
Guests will also have access to a Technogym-powered fitness center with ocean views and The Gentlemen's Barber.
So whether your idea of vacation is racing around the ship or disappearing into the spa for an afternoon, World Atlantic is being designed to accommodate both.
Why Port Canaveral Is a Big Deal
MSC Cruises' decision to base World Atlantic at Port Canaveral is another sign of just how important Central Florida has become to the cruise industry.
World Atlantic won't be a small seasonal addition. MSC is positioning her as its next U.S. flagship, with Port Canaveral serving as the starting point for her Caribbean program.
For Florida residents, that means access to one of MSC's newest and most advanced ships without having to travel to Miami.
For travelers coming from other parts of the country, Port Canaveral also makes it easy to combine a cruise with Orlando's theme parks, resorts and other Central Florida attractions.

Is MSC World Atlantic Worth Watching?
Absolutely.
MSC World Atlantic is shaping up to be one of the biggest cruise debuts coming to Florida in 2027.
And what's particularly exciting is that Florida is getting two major new cruise ships in the same year.
Carnival Festivale is scheduled to arrive at Port Canaveral in May 2027, followed by MSC World Atlantic's debut from the same homeport in November.
For cruisers, that means even more choices without leaving Central Florida.
World Atlantic will bring MSC's combination of European-inspired style and American-focused amenities together with huge family spaces, water attractions, entertainment, extensive dining and Caribbean itineraries that regularly feature Ocean Cay.
And now that she's officially floating, we're another major milestone closer to seeing MSC World Atlantic sail into Port Canaveral.
